Elon Musk Slams Kathleen Kennedy, Acolyte Season 2 In Doubt, Disney Stock Drops

Last week saw Elon Musk call out Kathleen Kennedy on X as a result of fans bringing up the latest Star Wars projects including The Acolyte and the Daisy Ridley upcoming movie.

Season 2 of The Acolyte also seems in doubt, and today saw Disney’s stock price drop.

Fans have also come up with a parody of Amanda Stenberg’s rage-twerking video.

What did Elon Musk say about Kathleen Kennedy?

The first tweet Elon Musk responded to is of a meme featuring Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

The tweet features four images: the Death Star, a “planet killer”; the Starkiller Base, a “system killer,” the Fulminatrix, a “fleet killer,” and last is an image of Kennedy described as a “franchise killer.”

“The power of one,” states the tweet.

Elon Musk caught wind and replied to his audience of nearly 200 million people, “She’s more deadly than the Death Star!”

The original tweet has been viewed 1.5 million times, with 65k likes, 4.9k retweets, and over 260 comments.

The second tweet references an article from IGN about how Kathleen Kennedy “has said women in Star Wars, such as The Acolyte showrunner Leslie Headland, struggle due to a male dominated fanbase.”

Elon Musk caught wind of that, too, and responded, “Kathleen Kennedy is super bigoted against men.”

Worth a mention is that recent filings from Disney have revealed men are paid more than women who work on The Acolyte.

The Acolyte Season 2 in doubt

The Acolyte Season 2 is now in doubt with it thought the series will be another Disney+ one-and-done and receive and early cancellation.

It’s already known the viewership numbers are not as good as Ahsoka, and The Acolyte cost nearly twice as much. To boot, Star Wars fans don’t like the series, which has the lowest Star Wars Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score.

Speaking with EW.com, showrunner Leslye Headland mentioned “if we get a season 2,” and again said ” if we get one.”

She also said, “I’ll tell you my philosophy on first seasons. Something that I’ve noticed is first seasons will end on what should have been the break into act two. It feels like everyone’s really expecting to get a second season, and I don’t feel that’s a good idea. I think you should put everything you can into the first season.”

Headland also admitted she hasn’t worked on The Acolyte Season 2:

I threw everything into season 1, because who knows what’s going to happen? And then I’d say there are four to five major mysteries and plot points that have to get hit in season 2, but until we get a proper pickup, I worry that spending a lot of time in that world — especially being in a period where I’ve worked so long on this project that honestly I’m exhausted by it coming out — to kind of jump right into like, “All right, season 2….” It will probably be more that I know what needs to happen, and I know what the character development needs to be in order to hit the plot points and the character points for a second, third, or fourth season. So I look forward to working on that, but right now, I haven’t.

We’re already half way through Season 1, and if it was a smash success, you would think Disney would have already greenlit a Season 2, but there hasn’t been any announcements. Now in interviews, when asked about Season 2, the showrunner downplays a second season.

Disney’s stock price takes a dip

Regarding Disney’s stock price, it took a big dip on Friday, losing nearly 3% and is under $100 and is down from the spike on Tuesday of $105.

The Disney stock price is also back to where it was in February when it saw a jump thanks to Bob Iger making announcements to bolster the company during its Q1 earnings report.

Next month sees the Q3 report and lines up with Marvel Studios returning to Comic-Con, so we’ll have to see what Bob Iger has in store.

Fans parody Amandla Stenberg

Following backlash to The Acolyte, star of the series, Amandla Stenberg, posted a music video on her Instagram.

“They spinning WOKE, bastardize it and appropriate it. Last I recall, WOKE was something we created. Speak truth to power. Keep an eye out for you silly racists and now they use it to describe anything they threatened by,” she sang.

Well, fans came up with their own version that’s much better:

Disney’s Inside Out 2 is a big hit

While it all seems to be doom and gloom for Disney, Inside Out 2 happens to be a big hit and will likely hit a billion dollars at the box office.

However, it happens to be such a big hit that goes against Disney’s recent politically-driven agenda when it comes to content.
