THR reports the Black Adam movie is being developed at the same time as the Shazam! film.
Dwayne Johnson recently took a meeting with DC and DC Entertainment President and co-runner of the DC films, Geoff Johns, and it's said the idea for a Dwayne Johnson Black Adam solo movie came out of the meeting.
"Had a very cool and strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe," Johnson said a few days ago. "As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN. Even when talking about the the most ruthless villain/anti-hero of all time finally coming to life. Prepare yourselves DC Universe."
According to the report, it's said the meeting led to a re-configuring of the Shazam! movie, and that since Dwayne Johnson has arguably become the biggest male star on the planet, that it makes sense to give him his own movie.
The story of Black Adam sees the character play a villain and an anti-hero in that he fights against those that enslaved his people.
Shazam! and Black Adam have no director attached (though it's speculated Brad Peyton might be directing), with it now said Henry Gayden (Earth To Echo, Zombie Roadkill) is writing the Shazam! script.
