DC Comics Desperate: Buy Gay Green Lantern To Spite ComicsGate

Well, sales for the upcoming Alan Scott: The Green Lantern must not be all that good as the writer took to social media to beg fans to buy the comic book.

The comic features another retcon of Alan Scott where he never wanted to join the Justice Society of America and is blackmailed by the head of the FBI into suiting up for the team.

So apparently Alan Scott was never a superhero, and speaking of suiting up, the comic sees the head of the FBI blackmail Green Lantern Alan Scott with gay photos telling him that he looks forward to seeing him again in his combat boots (seriously).

So following the news getting out, writer DC Comics Tim Sheridan has taken to Twitter to plead to fans to buy the book, where ComicsGate is mentioned.

If you are not familiar, ComicsGate game about following both DC Comics and Marvel ruining their characters with the progressive woke agenda.

Actually, this very website came about back in 2007/8 in regards to the very same thing when Marvel Comics killed off Wendell Vaughn Quasar and replaced him with the alien clone space lesbian, Phyla-Vell, who stole Quasar’s name and powers, and in doing so to get it to all work, Marvel had to change everything about Quasar.

Likewise, Marvel continued with the agenda by replacing Mar-Vell as Captain Marvel with Carol Danvers, and they did it to Nova, too, by killing him and replacing him with the teenage version, again where they had to change everything about Nova to get it to work. Marvel would continue the trend in the horrible Marvel NOW! initiative which the MCU is currently adapting. DC Comics would make Superman gay which has been canceled due to low sales and basically every other character.

So instead of eating up the DC Comics and Marvel garbage, creators bailed on the publishers and created their own comics, which saw fans follow in droves. Ethan Van Sciver, Shane Davis, Dale Keown, Chuck Dixon, and Graham Nolan, to name a few, have started their own successful comics that have sold millions of dollars worth of copies. Recently, YouTuber Eric July launched the Rippaverse which has sold over five million copies or more. At the NYCC, while not technically considered ComicsGate, Geoff Johns led a team of writers and artists away from both DC and Marvel to form their own publishing company.

What does Tim Sheridan say?

Getting back to what Tim Sheridan has to say, he begs fans to join his Corps (via boundingintocomics).

“I am here to ask you a favor. The book comes out next Tuesday but already the haters and the queer phobes are out in force doing everything they can to see that this book tanks. They make excuses… but the truth is they just don’t like there is a queer hero in the upper ranks of the DCU. The only way we can shut these people down is to make this book an undeniable success,” he said. “The only way to prove to all the big publishers that there is a huge market for authentic stories about LGBTQIA+ characters and that these stories are for everyone, is to buy the hecks out of books like this… I’m asking if you have the means, buy them up, buy extras to get to people you think really need to read it.”

So as to not look like he is taking advantage, Sheridan also said that any money the book gets will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

“I am asking you to join the Corps,” he begged. “If you care about truth and justice, about shining a light in the darkness, if you think comics are and should continue to be for everyone, or if you just want to force these ComicsGate trolls back under the bridge they crawled out from, please support our book and send a message that the bullying and the lies and the hate have to stop,. Everyone deserves to see themselves in comics. Everyone needs allies. And if you’re an ally, now is the time to step up. We outnumber them. So let’s pool our power, vote with our wallets, and beat these assholes.”

Sheridan continued, “Add as many of these four variant covers for Alan Scott: The Green Lantern to your pull list today. Pick them up in store next week, Tuesday the 24th. Thank you so much.”

Update: When I questioned Tim Sheridan on Twitter why he has to change everything about Green Lantern Alan Scott and not create NEW characters, Sheridan blocked me.
