There is a rumor going around that Ron Cephas Jones is playing the wizard in the upcoming Shazam! movie.
Well, some fans online speculated that Ron Cephas Jones would be referred to as simply “the wizard” and not the character’s real name from the comics, which is Shazam.
The original comics had Billy Batson’s superhero adult self called Captain Marvel, but obviously with DC’s direct competition having the name as well as a movie coming out of the same name, you can see the problem.
Director David F. Sandberg took to Twitter to clear up confusion about the wizard’s name stating the wizard will be called Shazam.
The wizard is named Shazam in the movie, I just think they’re trying to avoid confusion in news/articles.

Regarding Zachary Levi, more than likely Levi will be called Shazam as well (not getting into spoilers).
Shazam! has an April 5, 2019 release starring Zachary Levi as the titular character, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, with Cooper Andrews, and Mark Strong is playing the villain, Dr. Sivana.
