Crystal Lake Premieres In October On Peacock
Crystal Lake premieres October 15 on Peacock.
The series is described as an expanded prequel to Friday the 13th, the long-running horror franchise centered around Camp Crystal Lake and Jason Voorhees.
The project comes from Peacock and A24, with Brad Caleb Kane serving as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
What Is Crystal Lake About?
Crystal Lake is set in the world of Friday the 13th and expands the mythology behind the horror franchise.
While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the series is being billed as a prequel, meaning it will explore events tied to Camp Crystal Lake before the main Friday the 13th story fans know from the movies.
The franchise began with the original 1980 Friday the 13th, which introduced the cursed camp and the Voorhees family tragedy that launched one of horror’s most famous slasher series.
Friday The 13th Returns As A Drama Series
Crystal Lake marks the return of Friday the 13th as a television drama series.
Rather than simply rebooting Jason Voorhees for another movie, Peacock and A24 are expanding the story for streaming.
The prequel approach gives the series room to dig into the history of Crystal Lake, the Voorhees family, and the events that shaped the franchise’s bloody legacy.
