Coyote vs. ACME Trailer Released: Wile E. Coyote Finally Fights Back

The first trailer for Coyote vs. ACME has officially been released, and it leans right into the movie’s long-running hook: Wile E. Coyote is finally done getting blown up, flattened, and thrown off cliffs by ACME’s junk.

The film opens in theaters on August 28.

The official video description teases, “The trailer ACME doesn’t want you to see. Coyote vs. ACME. In theaters August 28.”

It also lays out the setup, with Wile E. Coyote teaming with accident lawyer Kevin Avery, played by Will Forte, to take on ACME in court, while John Cena plays slick corporate counsel Buddy Crane.

Coyote vs. ACME trailer reveals the movie’s premise

The trailer makes it clear this isn’t just another Road Runner gag reel. Instead, the movie flips the classic cartoon formula and turns years of ACME failures into the actual plot.

After decades of bombs, dynamite, magnets, rockets, boulders, and every other malfunction imaginable backfiring on him, Wile E. Coyote finally sues the company responsible.

That gives the movie a different angle than the usual Looney Tunes setup. Rather than focusing only on the chase, Coyote vs. ACME turns the joke into a legal battle, with Will Forte’s Kevin Avery helping the Coyote go up against Cena’s Buddy Crane and the profit-driven ACME machine.

Cast and director

Coyote vs. ACME is directed by Dave Green and stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, Tone Bell, and John Cena. Wile E. Coyote is the center of the story, with the film blending live-action and animation.

The movie is based on the long-running Looney Tunes character and the concept of ACME’s disastrous products finally coming back to haunt the company.

James Gunn is credited as writer, with Samy Burch and Jeremy Slater.

The movie finally hits theaters after getting shelved

Part of the reason the trailer is getting so much attention is because Coyote vs. ACME was previously shelved by Warner Bros. before Ketchup Entertainment stepped in and picked up distribution rights. That gave the film a second chance and set up its theatrical release for 2026.

So now, after all the controversy, fans are finally getting their first real look at the movie.

Coyote vs. ACME release date

Coyote vs. ACME opens in theaters on August 28, 2026.
