In additon to the new Planet Hulk details, it's learned the visual style of Thor: Ragnarok is in part inspired by the king of comics, Jack Kirby.
"I was really excited when Kevin [Feige] and the rest of Marvel jumped on board with the idea to use Jack [Kirby] as a big influence in the design of the film," director Taikia Waitit told Total Film. "What's really hard is staying authentic."
In typical Kirby fashion, the article also notes that Thor: Ragnarok is the "most adventerous and 'out there' Marvel movie to date" featuring "exciting additions" to the cast which includes Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, describing Thor: Ragnarok as the "[Captain America:] Winter Soldier of the Thor movies."
"The idea was to always take those first two movies and look at what they had to offer," Waitit said. "But also, try not to make another episode. Try to make something very different."
"Thor: Raganarok" has a November 3, 2017 release directe by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Banner, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Sam Neill in an unknown role.
