Moments ago saw word hit that Ben Affleck has decided not to direct the Batman movie for Warner Bros.
Ben Affleck released a statement that in part stated the reason for stepping down as director was due to performing too many duties (actor, director, producer, writer) and not being able to perform at his best.
Update: Batman script could get a rewrite.
News of Ben Affleck and WB being unhappy with the Batman script follows recent interviews with Ben Affleck where he stated they are taking their time to get the Batman movie script right. Affleck is co-writing Batman with DC Entertainment president and co-runner of the DC films, Geoff Johns. He'll also remain on Batman as a producer and star of the film.
The news of Affleck's directorial departure and rumors of not liking the script also follow the previous mention of the Batman film suffering from major problems.
The Batman movie currently has no director, but it's been said Affleck and WB are looking at Matt Reeves, director of War for the Planet of the Apes.
The Batman movie also currently has no release date; Affleck will star as Batman next in Zack Snyder's Justice League, out November 17, 2017.
