Check out a trailer for Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s Abbadon from Adaptive Books.

From prolific writers Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray (Jonah Hex, Power Girl, 21 Down) with art by Fabrizio Fiorentino & Alessia Nocera, Abbadon tells the tale of a city steeped in sin. The western boomtown of Abbadon is poised for a bright future until it experiences a series of gruesome murders. U.S. Marshal Wes Garrett is called to town to solve them.

You can pre-order Abbadon through Amazon.

Description:

Set in the late 1880s American West, Abbadon is a city steeped in sin, where anything is possible if you have the money, influence and power to obtain it. Poised to become the next boomtown, Abbadon is plagued by a series of murders heralding the arrival of U.S. Marshall Wes Garrett. A legendary lawman, Garrett’s claim to fame is that he killed a notorious murderer, who cut a bloody swath across the country and left scores of mutilated men, women and children in his wake.

Garrett’s arrival exposes the secret that Abbadon’s sheriff Colt Dixon has desperately been trying to conceal — the victims have all been mutilated the same way they were by the killer Garret stopped — a man some called a monster, but the papers called him Bloody Bill. Garrett and Dixon join forces to uncover the killer’s identity in a town so full of corruption that everyone is a suspect.

Dark Horse Announces Aliens: Defiance Ongoing Series At NYCC

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22434:]]

As announced on the Dark Horse: CLASSIFIED! panel at New York Comic Con, writer Brian Wood (The Massive, Rebels) and artist Tristan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road, TMNT) will take on the xenomorphs just in time to celebrate the anniversary of Aliens with a new ongoing series—Aliens: Defiance!

Alien was groundbreaking when it first debuted, and has only grown in relevance and pop culture legend since,” remarked Wood. “Thirty-seven years is an impressive amount of time for any entertainment property to thrive, much less still top mainstream headlines and fuel speculation like it does. It’s an honor to be invited to add to that legend.”

In space, no one can hear you scream . . . Aliens: Defiance follows struggling Colonial Marine rookie Zula Hendricks as she goes AWOL to protect Earth from an unknown alien species.

“Few films are as timelessly terrifying and the fact that it continues to grip audiences and affect them beyond any of its successors and imitators (of which there are plenty) is the strongest testament to how truly transcendent everything that went into, and came out of, Alien is,” added Jones. “Being asked to be a part of something so defining, and so instrumental to the creative development of not just me, but so many, many others, is a lifelong dream come true.”

Aliens: Defiance #1 (of 12) is in stores April 27, 2016. Preorder your copy today at your local comic shop!

Dan Slott Bringing Silver Surfer Back To Earth In Game-Changer (Video)

Marvel recently announced that Dan Slott and Mike Allred will be back on a new Silver Surfer ongoing next year.

While attending this weekend’s NYCC, Dan Slott talked with Marvel about the Silver Surfer, which sees the character’s 50th Anniversary take place next March.

In the above video, Slott revealed he is bringing the Silver Surfer back to where it all started – Earth – and that their first story will be a game-changer for the character.

“We taken one of our biggest stories and we are just going to explode with that first,” Slott said. “It’s huge, and it’s going to change Silver Surfer forever. We say that all the time. We say ‘break the internet, change forever,’  but no, this story is so big that when you try to explain Silver Surfer… you are going to have to mention this story from now on…. but by being so true to who and what the Silver Surfer is about… but it’s a major, major change for him that comes from the character, and you can never go back after this. You can never go back after this story. This is who Silver Surfer will be.”

Dan Slott also teased that Dawn might not be back for the series.

“We haven’t said if she is coming back,” Slott said. “That first cover, she’s not on it. It’s Dawn-less. You are going to have to wait and see if Dawn Greenwood is coming back.”

Slott continued by teasing the Surfer’s return to Earth.

“Now we are going to see Surfer on Earth because of stuff that is going to happen, and it’s going to be fun to see him interact with the Marvel Universe and do things with Earthlings.”

Exclusive: Jeph Loeb Done Writing Marvel Comics

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22410:]]

Cosmic Book News is presently attending the New York Comic-Con where we learned two tidbits regarding Jeph Loeb.

A fan asked Tim Sale (currently doing the art on Captain America :White) when he and Loeb were going to collaborate next.

Sale let it be known that, “Jeph doesn’t write anymore,” to the shock of the fans surrounding Sale while waiting for autographs (note: Sale had a HUGE line) in Artist Alley.

“He’s too busy running Marvel television to write anymore,” Sale said.

The fan who asked the first question then responded hopefully, “Well, maybe some day.”

Sale replied, “He makes way too much money.”

Cosmic Book News also learned that Jeph Loeb wil be making a surprise signing at the Marvel booth tomorrow, Saturday, at the NYCC from 10-10:45 am, which also sees Dan Slott, Will Sliney and also Sale attending.

Saturday October 10 | 6:45PM – 7:45PM | Room: 1A05

Sometimes comics can be the best medium to communicate about the real world — whether through science, autobiography, or wild adventures rooted in real experience. But working with “the truth” brings its own set of challenges… This fall, four of the industry’s hottest graphic novels are rooted in the real world. Now’s your chance to crack them open and see how & why. Featuring: Maris Wicks (the goofy and educational anatomy tour Human Body Theater), Derf Backderf (the raucous, stomach-churching garbageman tale Trashed), Jennifer Hayden (the riveting, funny, and wise cancer memoir The Story of My Tits), and Troy Little (the manic graphic novel adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas).
