Highlander’s Legacy and Future

The Highlander franchise launched in 1986 with Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, introducing audiences to the immortal Connor MacLeod. The film’s success led to several sequels and a popular TV series that aired from 1992 to 1998. Along with the movie, “There can be only one!” has become a cult favorite saying along with the Queen “Princes of the Universe” theme music.

A reboot of the franchise is in development at Lionsgate, directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski and starring Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher). It’s expected to start filming soon in Scotland.
