Last week, Hemsworth shared a message celebrating 15 years of playing the God of Thunder, prompting fans to think Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars would be his final ride in the MCU.

In the featurette originally tied to Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth said: “Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life… Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable.”

Fans took it as a farewell, but maybe not so fast.

Thor 5 Is Reportedly Happening

It’s now being said that Marvel is indeed moving ahead with Thor 5. Rumors point to a darker and more serious tone this time around, ditching the goofy humor of Love and Thunder. Also out: director Taika Waititi, just as we told you.

There’s been previous buzz that Furiosa director George Miller may be in talks to helm the sequel, reportedly due to Hemsworth introducing him to Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

The film could also reunite Thor with Loki, with Tom Hiddleston confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday along with Hemsworth.

The latest Thor 5 rumor is from Daniel RPK who says it’s happening and it will follow Avengers: Secret Wars as part of the MCU’s next saga.

Hemsworth has been teasing that he has been training for Avengers: Doomsday, which gets released December 18, 2026.
