Paramount tapped Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg to develop and produce the live-action Call of Duty movie, marking a major step forward for the franchise’s move to the big screen.
Sheridan and Berg will co-write, with Berg directing. Both will produce alongside David Glasser.
Major Creative Team for Call of Duty
Sheridan and Berg bring strong military storytelling backgrounds to Call of Duty. Sheridan created Yellowstone and Lioness, and wrote films like Hell or High Water and Wind River. Berg directed Lone Survivor and recently wrapped The Mosquito Bowl.
The pair have been friends for years and earned critical praise together with Hell or High Water, which earned four Oscar nominations. Their track record matches the grounded combat and tactical intensity fans connect to in Call of Duty.

What to Expect From the Film
The movie will look to capture what players know from Call of Duty: high-stakes military action, elite teams, and intense campaigns. Paramount plans to build a big-scale blockbuster, aiming to thrill players while reaching new audiences. Sheridan and Berg’s involvement signals a focus on realistic tone and military detail instead of a video-game-style spectacle.
Franchise Power
Call of Duty remains one of the most successful video game franchises in history. It has been the No. 1 best-selling video game series in the U.S. for 16 straight years and has moved more than 500 million units worldwide.
Sheridan & Berg’s Current Slate
Berg’s recent credits include Painkiller and American Primeval. He also produced Friday Night Lights content and leads commercial work through his Film 47 banner.
Sheridan is in the middle of a major career shift after signing a long-term NBCUniversal deal. His Paramount shows include Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, 1883, 1923, and Landman — with Landman season two arriving next month. He also has films and series in production, including F.A.S.T., set for release in 2027.
Deadline first reported on the news.
