It’s learned the Ben Affleck Batman movie is a definite go as it will start filming this Spring.

Enertainment Tonight caught up with Joe Manganiello, who is playing Deathstroke in the Batman movie.

“Great, man. Just getting ready to go shoot Batman in the Spring and release the Smurfs in April. Gotta couple other movies up my sleeve before then,” Joe Manganiello said.

The news of the Batman movie starting to film in the Spring fits with the announcement that the Batman movie is eighteen months away.  The head of Time Warner, Jeff Bewkes, recenly said, “I think [Batman is a] year and a half out,” adding that Ben Affleck is directing, starring and writing the Batman film (Geoff Johns is also co-writing).

Ben Affleck also recently said that he thinks the title will be “The Batman,” but for whatever reason backtracked on the remark stating: “There is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff.” It’s possible since the Batman movie hasn’t been officially announced with a release date that Affleck didn’t want to jump the gun.

Regarding the release date for the Batman movie, the best guess now that Joe Manganiello says Batman films in the Spring is October 5, 2018.

Ben Affleck also had the following to say about Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke character, which is specualted to first appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League: “He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

The Batman movie also stars JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

Rumors for the Batman movie include the Red Hood and that Batman may be trapped within Arkham.
