Batman Vs. Superman Lex Luthor Is Different Than Gene Hackman Version (Video)

We hear from Jesse Eisenberg talking about Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Superman in the above video.

Eisenberg offers this version of Lex Luthor is a great character as well as stating Lex isn’t a silly villain and is different than the Gene Hackman Luthor.

Here’s the blurb:

It was a wonderful opportunity.

It’s a really great character that’s written by this guy, Chris Terrio, he’s a phenomenal writer. He comes from a place of character. He loves my character in the same way I love my character. He put a lot of work into it. It’s a great character, there’s an emotional core to the character. It’s not silly, villainous character. It was a great part.

Eisenberg continues with mention his Lex Luthor is entirely different than the Gene Hackman version.

No. There is no way to do anything. I mean its an entirely different thing, but also the tone of that movie is so different… that movie wouldn’t be made like that now… The way we expect movies now is to have some kind of… I mean it’s for the best probably because there is some kind of more psychological accuracy… that the person is coming from a place that’s probably diagnosable.

This is a real depiction of a person who thinks these things.

Update: Jesse Eisenberg also confirms a Batman Vs. Superman appearance for Comic-Con.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
