Colin Farrell is Penguin in The Batman
The Colin Farrell casting news for The Batman is rather surprising as Penguin is known for being an uglier and larger character than what Farrell actually looks like in real life.
It’s possible that Colin Farrell could either undergo some sort of body transformation to pack on the pounds for Penguin or that the 43-year-old actor dons a bodysuit of some sort much as he did for his role in the comedy Horrible Bosses.

Colin Farrell joins Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, the titular character, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jayme Lawson as Bella, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
Former Penguin actor Danny DeVito recently approved the casting choice as DeVito also starred with Farrell in Disney’s Dumbo.
“[Colin Farrell] is going to do the Penguin,” Danny Devito remarked. “Yeah. I think it’s a great thing because you know Penguin is a great part. Oswald Cobblepot is many, many layers. It’s a very, very difficult task. But I think you know like many people have played King Lear, or Hamlet, or anything. I don’t think Oswald should be any different. I think everybody should get a crack at him. I think Colin is a terrific actor and I can’t wait to see the twists and turns.”
The Batman has a June 25, 2021 release directed by Matt Reeves, co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, Michael Giacchino is scoring the music, with rumors offering Reeves is in part adapting the DC Comics storyline, “The Long Halloween.”
