‘The Batman’ Coming to HBO Max In April

It’s confirmed that The Batman will be released in April on the HBO Max streaming service, which is only 45 days after the movie’s release.

HBO mistakenly posted the info (see screenshot below), which since has been removed, that shows The Batman will be on HBO Max starting on Tuesday, April 19, and regular HBO on Saturday, April 23.

Update: HBO Max officially announces the premiere date is April 18.

Original article continues:

Deadline has confirmed the release dates and notes it’s WB’s policy in 2022 to release films on HBO Max 45 days following the theatrical debut, which changed from last year’s day-and-date release for its 2021 slate of films.

The 45-day release on HBO could present problems for The Batman‘s box office (closing on in half a billion), as it could be possible some fans might wait another month to see it instead of going to the theater, or even that the digital release might cause high-def pirated copies to exist which could cut into things.

I’ll say, I think The Batman is a must-see movie in theaters and one that should be viewed multiple times.

Sony’s billion-dollar success with Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the flick get released 90 days after the theatrical version; however, Sony did decide to release the VOD version a week earlier, said to be due to piracy.

I think when it comes down to it, if the movie is good, fans will go out to see it; hence, why Marvel’s Black Widow tanked completely, as the flick wasn’t any good and how bad it is has nothing to do with getting a day-and-date release in theaters and on Disney Plus, and the same can also be said for Wonder Woman 1984 which did nothing to bolster HBO Max subscriptions, but probably did just the opposite.

Again, build it, and they will come.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, John Turturro, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell.
