Though James Gunn claims otherwise, leaks are coming out regarding The Batman 2 as Matt Reeves has finished the script.
It’s probably safe to assume that more than a handful of people know about the details for the sequel, say, for example, actors involved – or not involved – with the movie.
That would also include talent managers, as well as publicists.
Well, according to various industry insiders and scoopers, leaks involve Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, and Robin.
Robin leaks
The Robin leaks we already went over, but it’s worth revisiting again. Jeff Sneider said Robin is in The Batman: Part II script, but James Gunn called that nonsense.
That ticked off Sneider who promised to reveal whatever he has heard about the sequel. Promises made, promises kept.
Before we get to Sneider’s latest info, Grace Randolph said she also heard Robin is in the script. We also know Matt Reeves said he’s a big fan of the original Batman & Robin TV show, so it seems as if Reeves might do a grounded and serious take on Robin. Randolph also apparently said who the villain might be.
Catwoman leaks
So get this, while promoting her latest movie, apparently the publicist for Zoe Kravitz told the press interviewing her not to ask questions about The Batman: Part II.
According to Sneider, the publicists told the press not to ask questions because Zoe Kravitz, and henceforth Selina Kyle and Catwoman, are not in the sequel.
If that is the case, we can guess that Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne and Batman might have a new love interest.
Mr. Freeze leaks
Mr. Freeze has actually be a name thrown out there for the sequel a long time ago, and it’s also something Reeves touched upon.
I guess in one of her videos, Grace Randolph said Mr. Freeze is a or/the villain of The Batman: Part II.
So similar to Robin, assuming that’s the case, expect a grounded and serious approach to Mr. Freeze and not goofy, like the Arnold Schwarzenegger version.
What we know about The Batman: Part II
Some other bits of information that is out there, is that per WB, Matt Reeves will film in the Spring: “The Batman II (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring, among several other projects in development.”
In addition to Robert Pattinson, expected back includes Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.
Reeves might need a new cinematographer as Greig Fraser will apparently be too busy with the new Beatles movie. That also means Fraser won’t be doing Dune 3.
IMDb also has James Gunn listed as an executive producer. Gunn’s also said the DCU Batman won’t be appearing the same year Reeves’ Batman gets released, which makes sense. I still believe Gunn wants Pattinson in the DCU, though I’ve been told it’s not happening. I’m guessing if it comes to it, Zaslav will make the call, just as Zaslav made the call to go with Gunn’s DCU instead of continuing with the DCEU.
As of August 7, The Batman: Part II is listed as officially in pre-production, which lines up with Reeves handing in the script, which is also by Mattson Tomlin.
Filming location is said to be London, England, UK.
Release date is Oct 1, 2027.
