Summary
- Rumors about an Avengers vs. X-Men movie are resurfacing due to Disney and Marvel owning both characters in one universe
- The rumored movie may take place after Secret Wars
- Previous rumors suggest that Magneto will have a major role in the movie and the MCU
Rumors about a potential Avengers vs. X-Men movie are rekindling, as now Disney and Marvel own both characters in one universe and Deadpool & Wolverine gets released this summer.
Prior to and following the Fox deal, rumors were flying that it would happen (details below).
Now a new rumor surfaces that actually says Avengers vs. X-Men IS happening.
What does the rumor say?
The rumor doesn’t say much, but it says Avengers vs. X-Men is happening. It’s not known when it will be set other than it’s stated to be taking place within the Multiverse Saga.
That gives us a timeline as assuming Secret Wars is the last movie in the Multiverse Saga, that would mean Avengers vs. X-Men would need to be done by 2027.
If it does happen, it remains to be seen if it will be its own movie or if simply the Avengers will battle the X-Men in another film.
It’s hard to imagine the latter happening, as the former would be absolutely huge, so if I had to guess, Avengers vs. X-Men would take place after Secret Wars.
Regarding the earlier rumors, they seem to match up with what is now going on in the MCU. See below.
We can also add it won’t be the Fox Marvel characters used, but the new MCU versions with new actors. It also sounds as if Avengers vs. X-Men will spin off from whatever goes down in Secret Wars.

What did the previous rumors say?
Word about Avengers vs. X-Men came about from the late Mikey Sutton who was the first to drop the bomb way back in 2015 that Marvel and Fox were making up. A few years later, and sure enough, Disney would buy Fox and with that the Fox Marvel characters including the X-Men, Wolverine, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, and Galactus, would make their way to the MCU.
So back in 2020, Sutton revealed plans were underway for Avengers vs. X-Men, where Sutton said it would follow a Secret Wars movie. Sutton also said Secret Wars would involve Doctor Doom. Marvel made the big Secret Wars announcement at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con.
Magneto said to have huge MCU role
According to Sutton’s info back then, it’s claimed that both Magneto and Doctor Doom’s presence in the MCU will gradually be acknowledged, as Kevin Feige wants to put Magneto on the backburner for a while due to being used by Fox, but that Feige has plans for Magneto that are bigger than anything Fox has ever done.
Feige’s plans are said to include that eventually Magneto will be the primary figure in a big Secret Wars MCU movie.
It’s said that Magneto will be viewed as a “big bad” initially, but in the Secret Wars movie, Magneto will lead the charge against Doctor Doom “producing an epic fight between the two which will melt IMAX screens worldwide.”
It’s said that Magneto, once an object of distrust, wins over the hearts and minds of the X-Men.
So how do you follow up a big Secret Wars movie?
It’s claimed that Magneto, with the mutants at his side except for Professor X and Wolverine, will set up Avengers vs. X-Men.
By the time Phase 7 starts, Avengers vs. X-Men will begin to happen and the X-Men characters will be fully integrated within the MCU, states the info.
Regarding Wolverine in the MCU, Sutton claimed Hulk vs. Wolverine will happen.
