Jake Gyllenhaal is next to be rumored for Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie, with it recently said the cast will be announced sometime after the strike is over.
Well, the strike is officially over, so that means a Fantastic Four casting announcement should come sooner or later.
According to scooper Daniel RPK, the Fantastic Four cast isn’t set just yet. The scooper took to Twitter to offer that Jake Gyllenhaal is up to play Reed Richards.
“They haven’t done casting yet but now that the strike is over they’ll get right to it. First thing first, seeing if Jake Gyllenhaal will accept the offer for Reed Richards,” states the tweet.

Jake Gyllenhaal is already in the MCU???
But what about Jake Gyllenhaal already being a part of the MCU as he played Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home?
The answer may involve spoilers…
While I was told a few years ago that the origin of the Fantastic Four in the MCU would involve that they have always been in the MCU, things may have changed.
I was told the Fantastic Four existed back when Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne were young, and that the FF disappeared. So what happens is the FF either went into the Quantum Realm or the Negative Zone in the MCU’s past and when they reappear back on Earth it’s the present day and they haven’t aged.
However, according to a new rumor, it seems the Fantastic Four might be ditching connections to Ant-Man and the Pyms as well as to the MCU’s past (maybe because Quantumania bombed so badly?).
FF rumors involve the Multiverse
The latest rumor about the origins of the FF in the MCU involve the Multiverse. A rumor has said the Fantastic Four exist on an Earth where they are the only heroes and fight Galactus and Silver Surfer.
I suppose we can guess that maybe Galactus and Silver Surfer destroy that Earth and the FF somehow make their way to the MCU?
If that is indeed the case, that can explain how Jake Gyllenhaal would be able to play Reed Richards, as Reed would be from another universe and Earth, essentially I suppose, a Mysterio Variant (or Mysterio is a Reed Variant).
There are some red flags when it comes to the flick and if they stick I’ll be surprised if Gyllenhaal signs on, but it has been said the FF script is getting retooled. The script issues are said to be the reason Adam Driver and possibly Matt Smith and a bunch of other actors all bailed.
Fantastic Four has a May 2, 2025 release date directed by Matt Shakman with Josh Friedman now writing the script. Vanessa Kirby is said to be playing Sue Storm Invisible Woman.
Recently it was announced that Jake Gyllenhaal is starring in a new Guy Ritchie movie with Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzales. Gyllenhaal recently starred in Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant which I just watched and is pretty good (Homelander actor Antony Starr is in it, too).
