Harrison Ford makes it as plain as day that Indiana Jones 5 will be the last time we see the actor playing a character in a movie.
While Harrison For is now 80 years old that isn’t stopping him as it has been announced he will be starring in Marvel’s Captain America: New World Order, but his Indy days are over.
“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film,” Ford confirmed to Total Film and said if the rumored Indiana Jones TV series happens that is said to have already been canceled, he will “not be involved in that, if it does come to fruition.”
So with Harrison Ford done with the role, it has been rumored Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be taking over the fedora and whip. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is playing Indy’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw, and spoke with Total Film about how the character differs from Indy’s former allies in past movies.
“I think they really achieved something extraordinary: she fits into the canon, and she feels like there is certainly an energy that she shares with all the characters that have come before, especially with the female parts, but she is unique, and she has a fresh voice,” Waller-Bridge said. “She was somebody who was mysterious from the off. I think [Indy’s] often been the mystery to those characters before, especially his female counterparts, and I think there’s something really unusual in how they flip that here.”
