Zachary Levi recently revealed the Shazam! movie films in Toronto, and now check out 15-year-old Asher Angel’s reaction to getting cast as the young Billy Batson.
In the following video, Asher Angel tells Circa News that he initially provided an audition video and then ended up getting the call to come to Los Angeles to continue testing where he met with director David F. Sandberg and WB execs. As he left to head back to Utah, Asher got the call that he got the gig and even provides what may be his voice when he calls down the thunder!
“Shazam!” Asher Angel teases. “Zachary [Levi] come on out!”
David F. Sandberg also took to Instagram to seemingly tease Shazam vs. Black Adam.
“DO NOT MIX UP YOUR TOY LINES!!” Sandberg posted as Dwayne Johnson is set to star as Black Adam in a solo movie that will eventually see the pair meet up.
Shazam! has an April 2019 release date and stars Zachary Levi as the title character, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, with Cooper Andrews, and Mark Strong is rumored as the villain.
