While it’s been said that the title “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” refers to more than one Jedi – as apparently the Spanish translation of the film is plural – director Rian Johnson seems to think differently.
Speaking with GMA, Rian Johnson reveals that the title “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” refers to just that, the last Jedi–at least how he sees it.
“Look. In my mind it’s singular,” Johnson said. “In my mind it is. Absolutely.”
However, when pressed if the last Jedi is Luke, Johnson remained coy and wouldn’t answer.
“Well, if you say so,” Johnson said.
It’s then pointed out that Luke Skywalker says in the new trailer, “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”
Johnson responds: “I’m going to take your word for it.”
Rian Johnson also says the question of Rey’s heritage will absolutely be addressed, but seemingly hints it may not be specifically answered.
