Our good buddy James Gunn offers an update on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 on social media.
James Gunn fielded fan questions and posted a pic of himself offering, âWriting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 right now.â
Find the details below.
A fan asked about the new soundtrack, which saw Gunn reply: âMostly. But Iâve also changed it a lot, so who knows!â
Another also mentioned about hoping he adds Nova, which saw the director reply: âI can add anyone Marvel owns. But Iâve already chosen the charactersâŠâ The fan then remarked he hopes Gunn chose Nova.
Gunn also responds to a question about listening to criticism, with specific mention of too many jokes and Drax being too comedic. Gunn says: âI always listen to criticism. But, for the record, thatâs not the general view. In actual surveys Drax became the most popular of all the Guardians in Vol. 2. He was not that in Vol. 1. So MOST people actually liked him much much more.â
A fan questioned Gunn about if there is any red tape he needs to go through for his scripts, with Gunn replying: âI go through zero red tape. I get constructive criticism from Marvel about how to make the script/movie better which is almost always extremely helpful. But Iâm never told I HAVE to do that. And the overall Marvel plan almost never comes up.â
James Gunn also offers he has been writing Guardians of the Galaxy 3 for a year: âIâm more than a year into the process, so the script is far along. For many many months I first write the treatment which is 80 pages or so with photographs. That turns into GotG â Iâm now rewriting and making sure my rough draft works.â
A fan posted fan art of Baby Groot becoming Venom (picture above), which saw Gunn shoot down the use of the character as Sony owns the rights: âWe donât own Venom .â
A fan also asked for more Knight Rider references, which saw Gunn say:Â âI think we already made the legal limit..â
As Disney is supposed to be purchasing Fox Studios, which means the X-Men, Deadpool, Wolverine and Fantastic Four characters could return to Marvel (Gunn has gone on record stating he is interested in the Silver Surfer and Annihilus), could the deal impact Guardians of the Galaxy 3? âNot gonna happen in any major way. Too far along,â Gunn says.
Chris Pratt also recently teased Avengers 4 and said he is set to start filming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in January 2019 and teased his characterâs return with: âYouâll know once you see [Avengers] part 2. Iâm slated to film Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in January, so we donât know yet time-wise where that lines up. Iâm hoping itâs not the last you see of me but I canât be sure.â
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is also thought to have a 2020 release date.
