Cool Spawn #226 “Wolverine Vs. Hulk #340” Homage Cover By Todd McFarlane

When I first started reading and collecting comic books, my brother brought home an issue of the Incredible Hulk from school — and the Hulk was gray!

Blew my mind.

From there I went on to the local comic shop and bought issues of Hulk, Iron Man, Quasar etc.

As I read more on the gray Hulk, this eventually led me to Wolverine, as well as Todd McFarlane, who right around the time was drawing Spider-Man.

I remember coming across Todd McFarlane’s Incredible Hulk #340 cover — and was simply awestruck. Of course back then, it was a pretty hot comic and out of my league, so saving my lunch money each day would have taken a couple months and was out of the question.

Now McFarlane is back drawing Hulk Vs. Wolverine – of sorts –  with the following December cover of Spawn #226, which is a tribute/homage/parody to that classic cover.

We see the Violator as Wolverine with Spawn as the Gray Hulk.

Check it out, Todd tweeted the following. Brings back some good memories.
