Michael Shannon – Villain In Superman (2012): Man of Steel?

Earlier, it was reported that Edgar Ramirez may be up for a role in Zack Snyder’s Superman – as a villain.

Now, word comes from Deadline, that actor Michael Shannon may be up for one, as well.

Deadline notes that neither the studio or Shannon’s people have commented. Not a surprise as, earlier, Snyder wouldn’t comment (much) when asked about the cast, either.

Shannon has worked in Vanilla Sky, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys II and currently with HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.

Any ideas who Shannon could play? I’m not familiar with his characters off the top of my head, but he looks more the geeky-scientist type?
