Following the casting news and tidbit about Gotham no longer being protected, yesterday a rumor hit about Batman being missing, and now Mary Elizabeth Winstead is asked about the possibility.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who is known for 10 Cloverfield Lane, has been cast in the role of Huntress.Â
âRight,â she said with a smile when the rumor came up, the Observer reports. âI will not go there, but I appreciate the attempt.â
While obviously she couldnât really comment on the Batman rumor, at least she didnât shoot it down. Mary Elizabeth Winstead goes on to say she is excited for the flick.
âIâm really excited about the fact that itâs so female-led both in front of the camera and behind the camera,â Winstead said. âI think the perspective is really interesting and different for a superhero film in that senseâŠAnd the idea of suiting up into a superhero suit and it being from the female gaze is really interesting.â
Birds of Prey has a February 7, 2020 release directed by Cathy Yan starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, with Rene Montoya yet to be cast.
The movie is described as: After splitting up with the Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroesâBlack Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoyaâcome together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.
Regarding no Batman in Birds of Prey, if the rumor holds, itâs wondered where the DCEU Dark Knight might be for the past couple of years, with fan theories ranging from being involved with the Justice League, to being hurt, to possibly vanishing for some reason. Itâs also thought that maybe the Matt Reeves The Batman movie may explain why Bruce Wayne is seemingly no more. Any ideas why Batman may have gone missing?
