Marvel Comics announces it is killing off Doctor Strange this September.
âThe Marvel Universe loses its Sorcerer Supreme in âDeath of Doctor Strangeâ #1,â posted Marvel.com. âMarvel Comics writer Jed MacKay and artist Lee Garbett bring you the final saga of Doctor Strange this September!â
The site adds, âSince his first appearance in 1963âs STRANGE TALES #110 by comic book pioneers Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Doctor Stephen Strange has protected Earth from mystical threats, interdimensional invasions, and other untold horrors as the Sorcerer Supreme. This September, that ends, and the Marvel Universe will be left defenseless like never before in DEATH OF DOCTOR STRANGE!â
Sure to be a woke replacement, Marvel Comics has yet to announce a new Sorcerer Supreme, but killing off Doctor Strange follows Kevin Feige revealing they wouldnât use the character in WandaVision because Strange is a white male and also that both WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2 had to be rewritten because the character is a white male.
We can probably guess that the MCU will follow the comics (actually the comics have been written to âfollowâ the MCU since around 2012) and that Benedict Cumberbatch might be replaced as the MCUâs Doctor Strange, again simply because itâs a white male character. Doubt me? Disney said themselves they pass on good ideas about white people.
Further details about the comic include that it will be five issues.
ââWhat happens to the world if Doctor Strange isnât in it?â Itâs a question that Iâm excited to show people the answer to in DEATH OF DOCTOR STRANGE,â MacKay said. âStrange has been a Marvel fixture from the early days, but now, his time has run out and as a Strange fan, itâs been my bittersweet privilege to shepherd him through his last day and the effects that snowball out of it. Weâve cooked up a whale of a story to send Strange off with, and I canât wait for people to join us on it!â
âDoctor Strange has long been top of my âmost coveted characterâ list. To finally get chance to draw him in such a momentous series isâŠwell, magic,â Garbett said. âI couldnât be more excited for the project and for everyone to see what weâve got in store for Stephen and those closest to him. Jedâs conjured the perfect finale for Doctor Strange â and itâs a real third eye-opener! See you in September!â
