Superman’s Margot Kidder Dies

Margot Kidder, known for playing Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the Superman movies, has died at the age of 69 after struggling with mental illness for most of her life.

Kidder’s manager, Camilla Fluxman Pines, and the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, MT, confirmed the Superman actress’ death, but no cause of death was revealed.

Margot Kidder “died peacefully in her sleep Sunday,” Fluxman Pines said in a statement.

In addition to her role as Lois Lane in Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV (1987), Margot Kidder is known for the original The Amityville Horror, Boston Common, Shell Game and a slew of other works. Kidder also appeared on the Smallville TV series, and she most recently appeared on The Neighborhood as Maggie.
