During the season three finale of SyFy’s Face Off, make-up special effects designer and judge, Glenn Hetrick, let it be known that he was working on writing and producing an adaptation of Brian Lumley’s series of horror novels, Necroscope.

Seems Hetrick even went out and created some concept art and posted them on his MySpace account.

Cosmic Book News first reported on the news of the new Necroscope movie, which was quickly picked up by a number of Necroscope fans and websites.

Now we get an official update from the wife of author Brian Lumley, Barbara Ann (Silky) Lumley, from their website, BrianLumley.com.

Okay folks, I’ve just been informed of the announcement Glenn Hetrick made on Face Off. We don’t know anything about this as yet. We’ve received no information on the contract being renewed by our LA Agent. This contract is due for renewal this month. As soon as we know anything for sure we’ll let you know … that is, if someone let’s us know.

Please don’t contact the webmaster with all your posts or myself … as stated above, as soon as I know anything I’ll post it in this forum, I promise…

I can see that people are getting excited, and you all are getting me exited as well when I’ve gone and looked at some of the links about this on Google … so let’s just keep our fingers crossed…

While the Lumley’s have yet to be contacted by their agent regarding the new Necroscope movie, with Glenn Hetrick announcing worldwide (watch below) that he is working on adapting their book, an announcement should be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, if you are behind on the Necroscope craze (shame on you), you can pick up the series of novels at your local books stores or online.

As I stated previously, I was looking for an alternate to the Anne Rice Vampire novels, and found it with Lumley’s sci-fi horror espionage Necroscope series.

Here’s the description from Amazon:

Except to Harry Keogh, Necroscope. And what they tell him is horrifying.

In the Balkan mountains of Rumania, a terrible evil is growing. Long buried in hallowed ground, bound by earth and silver, the master vampire schemes and plots. Trapped in unlife, neither dead nor living, Thibor Ferenczy hungers for freedom and revenge.

The vampire’s human tool is Boris Dragosani, part of a super-secret Soviet spy agency. Dragosani is an avid pupil, eager to plumb the depthless evil of the vampire’s mind. Ferenczy teaches Dragosani the awful skills of the necromancer, gives him the ability to rip secrets from the mind and bodies of the dead.

Dragosani works not for Ferenczy’s freedom but world domination. he will rule the world with knowledge raped from the dead.

His only opponent: Harry Koegh, champion of the dead and the living.

To protect Harry, the dead will do anything–even rise from their graves!
