Mark Hamill Spoils Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Mark Hamill Spoils Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Following the controversial statements made by John Boyega, now Mark Hamill goes so far as to spoil Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and he also says he hopes he is done with Disney Star Wars.

The AP questions Mark Hamill asking if this is really, really, really going to be his last Star Wars movie, with Hamill responding, “I sure hope so.”

Regarding why Mark Hamill hopes he is done with Disney Star Wars, the actor replies and actually drops a huge spoiler looking into the camera and smirking: “Well, because…I had closure in the last one. The fact that I’m involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of the Star Wars mythology where if you’re a Jedi, you get to come back and make a curtain call as a Force Ghost.”

Mark Hamill unhappy with Disney Star Wars like a lot of fans

It was actually hoped that Luke Skywalker was still alive in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and that maybe he simply teleported away at the end of The Last Jedi, but we see that apparently isn’t the case.

There have been rumors that Mark Hamill actually returns as a Force Ghost in The Rise Of Skywalker and also that J.J. Abrams incorporates some epic flashback scenes involving Luke in order to make fans happy, as Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy basically ruined the character in The Last Jedi, which followed the big build up at the end of The Force Awakens.

Mark Hamill has actually gone on record many times about his dissatisfaction with the handling of Luke in the Disney Star Wars movies and has even offered that it isn’t his Luke:

I said to Ryan, I said, “Jedi’s don’t give up. I mean even if he had a problem he would maybe take a year to try and regroup, but if he made a mistake he would try and right that wrong.” So right there we had a fundamental difference, but it’s not my story anymore. It’s somebody else’s story, and Ryan needed me to be a certain way to make the ending effective. That’s the crux of my problem. Luke would never say that. I’m sorry. Well in this version, see I’m talking about the George Lucas Star Wars. This is the next generation of Star Wars, so I almost has to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he is Jake Skywalker. He’s not my Luke Skywalker, but I had to do what Ryan wanted me to do because it serves the story well, but listen, I still haven’t accepted it completely. But it’s only a movie. I hope people like it. I hope they don’t get upset, and I came to really believe that Ryan was the exact man that they need for this job.
