Yoda Rumored For Star Wars: Episode IX

Yoda is said to be returning for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Following Rian Johnson bringing back Yoda as a Force Ghost in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, now it’s being rumored J.J. Abrams is bring back the little green Master Jedi for the next installment.

“The success of the scenes featuring Yoda in The Last Jedi were huge,” an insider tells the NY Post, with it stated if all goes according to plan, Yoda will be back as a Force Ghost mentor Rey. “Yoda will again appear as a ghost as he acknowledges Rey’s success and growth as a Jedi. The scenes are due to be put together later this year.”

The reports further states that Carrie Fisher won’t be digitally re-created for Star Wars: Episode IX as well.

Yoda

Regarding Yoda coming back, I would actually argue against their claim that the Yoda scenes were “huge” in The Last Jedi, as I thought they came off as, honestly pretty, dumb. Yoda, for some reason, was back to his goofy self prior to letting it be known he was the Jedi that Luke was seeking in Empire Strikes Back, and again for some reason, Yoda was able to call down Force Lightning and interact with the real world. Also, what about Luke being the Force Ghost that mentors Rey in Star Wars: Episode IX? Hmmm.. Interestingly enough, Mark Hamill recently said he’s lost interest in Star Wars.

That said, there have been rumors of a Yoda stand alone origin movie, so they may have brought back Yoda in order to help promote that flick.

Star Wars: Episode IX has a December 20, 2019 release.
