John Williams Thinks J.J. Abrams Is Fixing Rey For Star Wars: Episode IX

Good news for fans of Star Wars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

While Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy butchered the franchise with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it’s learned J.J. Abrams will hopefully be putting things on the right path again with Star Wars: Episode IX.

Among the many problems with Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the “revelation” that according to Kylo Ren, Rey’s parents were nobodies who sold her off for drinking money and ultimately wound up dead.

Now the good news is that doesn’t look to be the case.

Daisy Ridley Star Wars The Last Jedi

In an interview with composer John Williams, who revealed Star Wars: Episode IX will be his last Star Wars movie, Williams not only hints that Abrams will reveal Rey’s true parents–but Williams is hoping for it.

“Rey’s parents might be identified to us in the next film,” Williams told kusc.org.

The interviewer then remarks, “I hope so.”

Williams replied, “I hope so, too.”

The interviewer also remarked that, “I assume they are pretty extraordinary. Somebody tried to tell her that they were anonymous people who died in the desert. I don’t believe that.”

“Yes. I don’t believe it either,” Williams said.

John Williams continued and let it be known the reason he agreed to compose Star Wars: The Last Jedi was because of Daisy Ridley.

“I adore.. Rey of course is played by Daisy Ridley, who was so loved in The Force Awakens,” Williams said. “Last year when Kathy Kennedy rang me up and asked if I would do the music for the Last Jedi, I said to her, ‘Is Daisy in it?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ So I said, ‘Yes’ [laughs].”

Now the bigger question is whether or not J.J. Abrams will be able to fix Luke Skywalker?

Star Wars: Episode IX has a December 20, 2019 release.
