Itâs rumored that the Joker will be featured in the upcoming Gotham City Police Department series coming to the HBO Max streaming service, which is said to be a prequel to the Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves Batman movie.
The rumor comes from a user on the SHH forums who offers the following details.

Gotham HBO Max series rumors:
Itâs claimed the series will be a blend from the DC comics Gotham Central, Year One, and The Man Who Laughs (see descriptions below, and worth a mention is that two of the stories are from Ed Brubaker who recently has been added to the new Batman animated series).
Joker is said to be the main antagonist, and that the series will explore the origin of Joker through the eyes of the Gotham City police and Batman.
Itâs further said that Batman will have a bigger role than expected.
Itâs claimed the show wonât feature Harvey Dent who is being saved for The Batman 2.
Itâs said Kaya Scodelario, who is known for The Maze Runner movies, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and recently plays Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, is up for a mysterious role (fans have pointed out Scodelario recently started following showrunner Joe Barton on Twitter).
Itâs also said about Joker that there is a person with a disfigured face that Batman knows in Arkham Asylum and that this definitely might be the Joker.

Gotham Central description:
Itâs not easy being a cop in Gotham City. Not only must you deal with the violence and corruption of the worldâs most notoriously crime-infested city catering to some of the most insane and homicidal criminals, but you also have to deal with a vigilante whoâs hell-bent on playing by his own rules.
Gothamâs Finest work around the clock cleaning up after the mess left behind from Batmanâs one-man war against crime. But when one of the GCPDâs own is killed by Mister Freeze, the squad is in a race against time to bring him in without the help fo the Dark Knight. Plus, Police Detective Renee Montoya is âoutedâ as a lesbian, and finds her work environment and personal life turned upside down. Unfortunately for her, things only become more complicated when she is kidnapped by Two-Face.
The multiple award-winning GOTHAM CENTRAL series is brought to you by acclaimed writers Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka, with artist Michael Lark.

Batman: Year One description:
In 1986, Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli produced this groundbreaking reinterpretation of the origin of Batmanâwho he is, and how he came to be. Sometimes careless and naive, this Dark Knight is far from the flawless vigilante he is today.
In his first year on the job, Batman feels his way around a Gotham City far darker than the one he left. His solemn vow to extinguish the townâs criminal element is only half the battle; along with Lieutenant James Gordon, the Dark Knight must also fight a police force more corrupt than the scum in the streets.

Batman: The Man Who Laughs description:
