‘Doctor Strange’ 2 Luke Warm On Rotten Tomatoes

The Doctor Strange 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score is in and it’s presently a bit lukewarm for a big Marvel film as the score is currently only at 83% with 66 reviews accounted for.

Update: The score has dropped to 79% with 124 reviews.

Update #2 5/6 1:02 am EST: The score drops again to 77% with 226 reviews; the Audience Score is at 89%.

Update #3 5/9: With 333 reviews, the score drops to 75%; Audience Score drops to 87%.

Original article continues:

What could be worrisome is that Kevin Feige had Sam Raimi reshoot reportedly around 80% or more of the movie, so it could be possible the flick is a big mess, and also recall Scott Derrickson was at first supposed to direct the sequel but left the project for some reason. Feige also cut Benedict Cumberbatch and Doctor Strange from the WandaVision series on Disney Plus, which would have nicely tied things together.

For comparison, the previous Marvel movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch that made nearly $2 billion, Spider-Man: No Way Home, has a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score and the first Doctor Strange movie has a better score as well at 89%.

The 83% is comparable to Black Widow (79%), Captain Marvel (79%), The Avengers: Infinity War (85%), Ant-Man and the Wasp (87%), Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (85%), Ant-Man (83%), Iron Man 3 (79%), and Captain America: The First Avenger (79%).

Worth a mention is that it’s still early and a lot of reviews have yet to be counted, so bear that in mind, and in addition, the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score will be made available once the flick gets released later this week.

The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez, and there are two post-credit scenes.
