Alan Ritchson Says Batman Unlikely, But DC Role Possible

Alan Ritchson addressed the swirling Batman casting rumors and confirmed that he has had conversations with DC Studios co-head James Gunn, though he downplayed the possibility of donning the cape and cowl.

It’s been no secret the actor, known for playing Reacher, wants to play DC’s Dark Knight, as he has said many times he wants to play Batman.

Ritchson Confirms Batman Conversations Happened

Speaking to Variety, Ritchson was asked about recent online speculation tying him to the role of Batman in the new DC Universe. While he acknowledged some truth to the buzz, he offered a grounded response.

“Well, it’s not rumor that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself,” said Ritchson. “And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. I don’t want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future.”

However, Ritchson didn’t close the door on joining the DCU altogether.

“I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true,” added Ritchson.

Ritchson, Gunn, and DCU Possibilities

The Reacher star has become a fan favorite for Batman casting, especially as James Gunn builds out his “Superman Saga.”

Speculation even offers the DCU’s Batman may first appear in Peacemaker Season 2, which is now in its second episode.

While the new DCU version of Batman will headline The Brave and the Bold, the project remains in early development and no casting has been officially confirmed.

Who could Alan Ritchson play in the DCU?

If not Batman, who would a good character be for Alan Ritchson to play in the DCU? He has also already played Hawk in the Titans TV series, so what other characters?

A Sgt. Rock movie is still said to be happening. How about Captain Atom?
