‘Daredevil: Born Again’ to Feature Marvel’s Most Brutal Action Yet

Fans of Daredevil can start getting excited for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, set to hit Disney+ next year.

According to Marvel’s head of streaming and television, Brad Winderbaum, this latest iteration of the Man Without Fear is going to bring some of the most intense action sequences the MCU has ever seen.

In an interview with EW, Winderbaum, who also recently talked about Nova, hinted at what viewers can expect.

“I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming in Daredevil: Born Again, which isn’t a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least,” he said.

This tease of intense action will no doubt excite fans who have been hoping the Disney+ reboot stays true to the darker and grittier tone of the original Daredevil Netflix series, which set a high bar. Our Comic-Con insiders previously told us that the show is being fixed to align it more with the popular Netflix series, which has been confirmed by the cast and the trades, exactly as we said. The move is a welcomed change, especially considering there have been concerns that Disney might tone down the action in favor of a more goofy approach as seen in She-Hulk.

Charlie Cox returns to the role of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. While Cox previously made his official MCU debut in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and has since appeared in She-Hulk, Daredevil: Born Again promises to dive deeper into his character with, per Winderbaum above, a more intense and visceral tone.

Also returning includes Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. Both Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (The Punisher), and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) are also back.

Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher is particularly noteworthy, as The Punisher is also known for delivering some of the most violent and brutal moments in Marvel’s history, which only heightens anticipation for how gritty Daredevil: Born Again will be.

As noted, Winderbaum’s comments come with the release of the Agatha series next month.

“I think that it goes back to the filmmaker’s intent,” he explains. “The horror on screen in Agatha is going to be different than the horror on screen in Marvel Zombies, is going to be different than the horror on screen in Blade. It was different than the horror on screen in Moon Knight. It really depends on the vision of the filmmaker on what horror cues you’re pulling from. And that’s not just unique to horror. It’s unique to any genre we’re playing with. Obviously, there’s many different ways to tell a story.”

Daredevil: Born Again premieres in March; Agatha on September 18.
