Superman: Legacy Adds The Authority’s The Engineer

Confirming rumors and speculation, James Gunn has added a member of The Authority to his Superman: Legacy movie, which already features a host of superheroes.

María Gabriela de Faría is announced to be playing Angela Spica, aka The Engineer, described as a breakout part for the actress by Deadline and a villain. She is a Venezuelan actress known for Túkiti, crecí de una, Grachi, La Virgen de la Calle, Yo Soy Franky, Vikki RPM, the Russos Deadly Class, The Moodys, and The Exorcism of God.

Gunn confirmed the casting on social media, “‘Villain’ is such a disparaging term! Welcome to the DCU @thefaria, who is not only a wonderful actor, but she laughs in person even more than she does in her IG photos! #theengineer #supermanlegacy #dcstudios.”

Gunn also has plans for a DCU movie surrounding The Authority described as featuring WildStorm characters joining the DCU as members of The Authority who take matters into their own hands to do what they believe is right.

Superman: Legacy has a July 11, 2025 release date with Gunn writing and directing. David Corenswet is playing the new Man of Steel, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Isabela Merced is playing Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi is playing Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion plays Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and a search is also said to be underway for Lex Luthor and possibly Brainiac.

Gunn also recently announced the writer of the Supergirl movie.
