James Gunn Confirms Ana Nogueira Writing Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

James Gunn confirms and welcomes Ana Nogueira as the writer of the DCU Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow movie.

“A hearty public welcome to Ana Nogueira to the DC Studios family. Ana is an amazing writer whose screenplay adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow is above and beyond anything I hoped it would be. We’re excited to be moving forward on this unique take on Supergirl in this beautiful, star-spanning tale,” posted Gunn on social media.

The flick is officially described as a “science fiction adventure, which will be based on Tom King’s amazing, award-winning recent comics stories, presents a Supergirl viewers are not used to seeing.” Variety in their reporting also adds the films centers on “Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El and her superdog Krypto.”

The eigh-issue comic book series is described as: “Kara Zor-El can no longer find any meaning or purpose in her life. But all that changes when an alien girl seeks her out to help her take revenge on the bad guys who destroyed her world. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core. It’s Supergirl like you’ve never seen her before in a character-defining sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece!”

Ana Nogueira is known for writing We Win and for being an actress in The Michael J. Fox Show, The Battery’s Down, The Vampire Diaries, The Blacklist, and Hightown.

Sasha Calle most recently played Supergirl in The Flash movie, and Melissa Benoist played the character in DC’s The CW universe.

Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow doesn’t have a release date as of yet or a director.

James Gunn is also writing and directing Superman: Legacy which gets released on July 11, 2025. David Corenswet is the new Man of Steel, with Rache; Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Isabela Merced is playing Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi is Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion plays Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
