The writers of the Morbius movie have been added to the writing credits of the upcoming Madame Web film, both a part of Sonyâs Spider-Man spin-off universe.
The Madame Web trailer was released last month which credits the screenplay by âClaire Parker & SJ Clarkson.â
However, the official website for the flick lists the screenplay by âMatt Sazama & Burk Sharpless and Claire Parker & SJ Clarkson.â
Morbius was written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless.
What could be going on is that Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless may have worked on an earlier draft of Madame Web and then Claire Parker & SJ Clarkson came on board for rewrites.
IMDb also lists Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless on Madame Web with âscreenplay byâ and âstory byâ credits.
Typically what happens is if a writer worked on a movie and contributed a certain percentage of ideas used in the completion of the film, they will get a writing credit, so that could be whatâs happening here.
Hopefully, itâs not Madame Webbinâ time?
As we all know, Morbius didnât perform all that well at the box office. It only made $167 million and was recently passed by The Marvels for the largest drop in superhero cinema history, so at least it doesnât have that going for it anymore.
Sony also did a re-release and basically mocked the movie with that âMorbinâ timeâ marketing campaign.
Hopefully, Madame Web is a lot better.
Madame Web will be released sometime in 2024. S.J. Clarkson is also the director and Kerem Sanga is listed as also part of the story by credits. The cast includes Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste OâConnor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.
