Today saw NBC announce season renewals for next year, and it’s sad to say Constantine isn’t among them.
NBC has renewed new seasons for The Blacklist (season 3), Chicago Fire (season 4), Chicago P.D. (season 3), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (season 17) and Grimm (season 5) for the 2015-16 season.
It’s guessed NBC needs to decide if Constantine will get a second season rather quickly as the actors will need to set their schedules or obviously move on to other projects.
Ratings for Constantine have been up and down, with the DVR viewings being high; however, network executives stated the problem was with live viewership, insinuating it needs to be better to warrant further episodes.
It’s possible Constantine could see a network change, perhaps airing on SyFy, which is owned by NBC Universal as well.
Showrunner Daniel Cerone has been hopeful on Twitter for a second season.
Constantine airs on the same night as Grimm and recently moved to the preceding timeslot on Fridays at 8pm ET.
