Batkid is coming to the big screen courtesy of Julia Roberts.
Oscar-winner Julia Roberts closed a deal to produce and star in an adaptation of the Batkid story, which saw young leukemia patient Miles Scott transformed into Batman fighting crime on the streets of Gotham (San Francisco) with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Julia Roberts is said to be remaking the Batkid Begins documentary which will also see the director of the documentary, Dana Nachman, onboard as executive producer.
“It’s thrilling to me that Ms. Roberts and her team watched our film and were so moved by it that they want to dedicate their time and creative capital to make sure the widest audience possible will know and love Miles’ story and the spirit of this intimate special event that went global, as much as we do,” Nachman said, reports Deadline.
Star Wars and Indiana Jones poster artist Drew Struzan recently came out of retirement to do a poster for Miles and Batkid as well (pictured above).
Batkid Begins premieres tomorrow at Slamdance in Park City, UT.
