Reports claim layoffs have hit WB Games Montréal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, adding to the turmoil surrounding Warner Bros. Discovery and its gaming division.
According to posts circulating on X and additional online reports, an unspecified number of staff at WB Games Montréal have been let go.
Warner Bros. has not publicly confirmed the reported cuts as of this writing.

WB Games Montréal reportedly hit by layoffs
The reported layoffs are said to involve WB Games Montréal, one of Warner Bros.’ key studios tied to DC game development.
The studio is best known for Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights. It has also been reported that the team had been working on a DC live-service game, though official details about that project have never been fully revealed.
That makes the timing stand out even more, as fans have already been questioning the direction of Warner Bros. Games following multiple setbacks over the past year.

Batman game rumors continue
At the same time, talk continues that a new Batman game is in development.
Nothing official has been announced regarding a new Batman title from WB Games Montréal, but the Batman brand remains one of Warner Bros.’ biggest gaming assets.
Earlier comments from company leadership also pointed to a renewed focus on major franchises moving forward, with DC and Batman expected to remain a top priority, along with Harry Potter.
So while one project may be in trouble, Batman is still viewed as one of the safest bets in the company’s gaming portfolio.

More trouble for Warner Bros. Games
The reported layoffs come after Warner Bros. Games has already gone through a rough stretch.
The division has been dealing with restructuring, studio closures, canceled projects, and fallout from high-profile misses. That has left fans wondering what the long-term plan actually is for DC games, especially after years of inconsistent results.
If these latest reports are accurate, it would be another sign that Warner Bros. is still cutting back while trying to reset its gaming strategy. More on that below.

Paramount deal adds more questions
The reports also come amid Paramount Skydance’s pending acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal that has not closed yet but is already fueling speculation about further cost-cutting across the company.
There have also been reports about Gulf-state money being tied to Paramount’s broader financing efforts, which has only added more attention to what happens next.
However, there is no indication at this time directly linking the reported WB Games Montréal layoffs to the Paramount deal or any outside investors (the Saudis have purchased Electronic Arts for $55 billion).
Still, the timing is hard to ignore.
With WB Games Montréal reportedly taking a hit, a DC live-service game rumored to be in the mix, and Batman said to still be part of the future, Warner Bros. Games looks like it remains deep in transition.
Back when Netflix was in the mix to buy WBD, it was also reported that Netflix considered WB Games worthless.
