Supergirl Confirmed For Superman: Legacy

Following up on that earlier article from Deadline, now sister site THR confirms that James Gunn’s Supergirl will first appear in his Superman: Legacy before her own solo flick.

THR also again says both Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly are up to play Supergirl.

The site adds that Emilia Jones is out along with Cailee Spaeny who was also up for the role.

Screen test held

According to the report, the Supergirl screen test was held on Tuesday with James Gunn present. It’s also said, “Supergirl is a key part of Gunn and Safran’s plans as they piece together their slate for DC Studios.”

Milly Alcock is known for playing the younger Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon.

Meg Donnelly is known for American Housewife, The Winchesters, and has actually provided the voice of Supergirl in last year’s Legion of Superheroes animated movie and this year’s Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One animated movie.

What is Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow about?

Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow has Ana Nogueira is writing the script; no release date has been announced.

Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow is officially described by DC as a “science fiction adventure, which will be based on Tom King’s amazing, award-winning recent comics stories, presents a Supergirl viewers are not used to seeing.”

Variety also said in their earlier reporting that the films centers on “Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El and her superdog Krypto.”

James Gunn said during last year’s big DCU press announcement held at the end of January: “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” said Gunn during last year’s DCU press announcement. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
