James Gunn takes to social media to reveal a variant cover for Superman Unlimited from DC Comics featuring himself with the new Man of Steel, David Corenswet.
“Bowled over to see this ‘cameo cover’ of the new @Superman Unlimited #1. @Danmora_c adeptly captured my laptop stickers and piercing model gaze. You can pick up this very special edition at your local comic shop May 21st. @DanSlott,” tweeted Gunn.
The big reveal came at Thursday’s ComicsPro event which also features the new costume for Batman.

Superman Unlimited is an upcoming new comic book series from DC Comics that debuts on May 21, 2025. Dan Slott is the writer, with art by Rafael Albuquerque.
It’s part of DC’s “Summer of Superman” publishing initiative which will feature new and ongoing series spotlighting Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, Krypto, and other characters from the Superman universe.

To kick off DC’s Superman Unlimited series in May, a massive extinction-level Kryptonite asteroid showers Superman’s greatest weakness down upon the earth, creating an arms race for the new most valuable resource on the planet: Green K. The greater availability of Kryptonite in the DC Universe changes the balance of power in the criminal empires of Metropolis and across the globe: Intergang, under new leadership, is on the rise, with practically all their foot soldiers carrying at least one clip of Kryptonite bullets on them. The asteroid left massive Kryptonite deposits to be mined, and it houses unlimited horrors yet to be unpacked.
