Godzilla X Kong: Supernova Stars Tease SpaceGodzilla as MonsterVerse Villain

It looks like SpaceGodzilla might be heading to the MonsterVerse, as two Godzilla X Kong: Supernova cast members have teased the iconic kaiju on Instagram.

According to fans online, both Matthew Modine and Alycia Debnam-Carey posted cryptic Instagram Stories that appear to reference SpaceGodzilla, the long-rumored Toho villain.

Modine and Debnam-Carey Tease SpaceGodzilla

The most recent SpaceGodzilla tease comes from Matthew Modine, who also confirmed he finished filming his role a few days ago. Modine shared a Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla poster along with a screenshot from their 1994 showdown, fueling speculation, and a pic of the Mothra twins.

Alycia Debnam-Carey also posted a screenshot from the recent teaser, accompanied by emojis that many believe point to SpaceGodzilla.

Is SpaceGodzilla the Next MonsterVerse Villain?

In the original film, the Mothra twins appear and give a warning about the consequences of human interference with Godzilla. Mothra carried Godzilla cells into space, which were mutated via radiation and a black hole. Modine’s image and Debnam-Carey’s emojis appear to hint at two girls summoning or warning about SpaceGodzilla, possibly a nod to the Mothra twins, who made a brief appearance in the original film.

Matthew Modine is also confirmed to be playing someone in what appears to be an elite military organization. It could be possible he is a part of  G-Force, which could tie into the original movie. G-Force is the fictional military unit created by the United Nations to monitor, defend against, and if necessary, destroy Godzilla and other kaiju (titans).

Previous Teases and Plot Rumors

While no plot details have been released, Legendary has teased Godzilla X Kong: Supernova deals with a “cataclysmic world-ending threat,” which fits with SpaceGodzilla. Set pics out of the UK also tease a big disaster movie. This would also explain why Godzilla and Kong team up again.

Of course, the title “Supernova” also fits with SpaceGodzilla, since a supernova collapsing into a black hole mirrors SpaceGodzilla’s origin story.
