Rob Liefeld Says Marvel Has Taken Star Wars Crossover Pitches

Rob Liefeld Says Marvel Has Taken Star Wars Crossover Pitches

The Star Wars and Marvel crossover rumor may have been shot down, but the conversation isn’t going away.

Now, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld says there’s more to the story.

Posting on X, Liefeld claimed Marvel has absolutely taken pitches for a Star Wars/Marvel team-up.

“For all of you out of the loop, Marvel has 💯 taken pitches on Star Wars/Marvel team up’s. Full stop. This isn’t happening in a vacuum. Stuff gets out. Star Wars 50th anniversary is next year. Track it. Snag is getting Lucasfilm to approve,” posted Liefeld.

That’s a pretty direct statement.

Star Wars / Marvel Crossover With Mark Millar Rumor Shot Down

Marvel Has Taken Pitches?

Liefeld’s comment suggests that while the recent rumor about a Mark Millar crossover was shot down by THR, the idea itself isn’t fantasy.

Marvel Comics publishes Star Wars titles under license from Lucasfilm, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company — the same parent company that owns Marvel.

So from a corporate standpoint, a crossover isn’t impossible.

The hurdle, according to Liefeld, is approval from Lucasfilm.

Even though Marvel can take pitches internally, Star Wars canon is tightly controlled. Any project that blends Jedi and Avengers would require major sign-off at multiple levels.

Liefeld also pointed to timing.

Star Wars debuted in 1977, which means the franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027. Big anniversaries often bring special publishing events, oversized issues, and surprise projects.

That doesn’t confirm a crossover is coming. But it does explain why pitches may be floating around.
