Gina Carano Talks Pedro Pascal Split, Kathleen Kennedy Exit After Star Wars Fallout

Gina Carano is opening up more about the fallout from The Mandalorian, including where things stand with Pedro Pascal and Kathleen Kennedy.

The comments come as Carano is back in the spotlight following the settlement of her lawsuit with Disney and Lucasfilm, her recent conversation with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, and rumors that she could return to Star Wars as Cara Dune.

Gina Carano says she and Pedro Pascal don’t keep in touch

Speaking with THR, Carano said her relationship with Pedro Pascal is one of the casualties of everything that happened after her Disney firing.

As noted, Pascal never publicly denounced Carano during the controversy. Carano has previously said Pascal privately urged her to calm things down before the firing and tell critics what they wanted to hear.

Carano now says the two last spoke after The Mandalorian co-star Carl Weathers died in February 2024.

“But no,” Carano clarified. “Me and Pedro don’t keep in touch.”

Carano wishes Kathleen Kennedy the best

Carano also commented on Kathleen Kennedy, who has left her role as president of Lucasfilm.

“I wish her the best,” Carano said.

Carano added that she hopes Kennedy one day writes a book or becomes the subject of a documentary.

“You never know what somebody else is going through,” she said.

After the settlement, Lucasfilm released a statement saying Carano “was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff,” and added that the studio looked forward to “identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano fight announced for Netflix live May 16

Gina Carano also has a Netflix fight coming up

Carano is also preparing for a major return outside of Hollywood.

She is set to fight Ronda Rousey on May 16 in a live Netflix MMA event presented by Most Valuable Promotions. The fight is being promoted as a 5×5 professional MMA bout and will take place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Jake Paul, who founded MVP, has also been involved in promoting the fight.

“Surreal moment. I started taking judo because of Ronda Rousey. Now I get to work with her and Gina Carano to bring MMA to Netflix. Here we go,” Paul previously posted.

The fight marks a huge comeback moment for Carano, who helped build women’s MMA before transitioning into acting. Rousey later became the bigger mainstream name in the sport, but Carano was one of the fighters who helped prove there was a real audience for women inside the cage.
