A new God of War rumor claims Sony Santa Monica’s next project in the franchise won’t star Kratos at all.
Instead, via X user NateTheHate2, the lead character will be Faye, Kratos’ wife from the Norse saga, with a different gameplay style that leans more into action than the recent Norse-era games.

What NateTheHate2 Claims
According to NateTheHate2, the project is set within the God of War universe and stars Faye as the playable lead.
He adds that the gameplay will differ from the Norse God of War titles, with more focus on action.
He also claims Sony’s current plan is to reveal the game in 2026 and release it in the first half of 2027, assuming no delays.
Where This Started: “Cory Barlog’s New IP” Talk
This kicked off after X user Wccftech posted that Cory Barlog’s long-rumored “new IP” may actually be tied to God of War, described as an expansion of the existing universe with a new franchise.
That lines up with older chatter from industry reporters that Sony Santa Monica’s next big project wouldn’t be a brand-new IP, even if it feels different from what the studio has done before.
