While rumors have already offered that Chris Evans will be returning for Avengers: Doomsday, a new possible leak offers even more support that the actor could be back as Captain America.
Recall how Kevin Feige recently said fans didn’t go see Brave New World because it didn’t feature Evans as Captain America.

What does the Chris Evans rumor say?
A rumor has hit the net that Marvel Studios is using a codename for Chris Evans on the set of Avengers: Doomsday to hide the fact that Evans is involved with the movie.
The codename Marvel is claimed to be using for Chris Evans is Luke Cage.
For fans that have been keeping up with all the leaks and news, Luke Cage in relation to Avengers: Doomsday will ring a bell. Leaks have said Marvel erected a “1960s-style US house for Cage” on the set.

Well, how would that work out since Luke Cage (assuming it’s Mike Colter from the Marvel Netflix shows) wasn’t even born in the 1960s?
Assuming the rumor is true, it’s because it’s not actually Luke Cage — it’s the house for Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.
Pure speculation, but recall how Steve went back in time and reunited with Peggy Carter and lived a long and fulfilling life in Avengers: Endgame. We can guess that someone might go back in time to the 1960s to reassemble The Avengers to take on Robert Downey’s Doctor Doom.
Who will Chris Evans return as?
Assuming this is all true, that means Chris Evans is indeed back as Steve Rogers for Avengers: Doomsday. Whether he actually returns as Captain America remains to be seen.
Anthony Mackie is confirmed to be returning. Rumors have also offered that Evans could be returning to the MCU as Nomad, an alternate identity that Steve Rogers adopts in the comics after he abandons the Captain America costume and title. Since Mackie is Cap, maybe Evans is Nomad. Another possibility is Captain Hydra, which would be pretty wild if he joins Downey’s Doom.
