Marvel Studios has released the first behind-the-scenes look at The Fantastic Four with a short video titled Fantastic Four: First Steps | Fantastic First Look, offering fans a peek at the upcoming movie set in a retro-futuristic 1960s backdrop.

Director Matt Shakman Talks the Vision
Director Matt Shakman appears in the clip, calling Fantastic Four a personal project.
“I’ve been a huge fan of Fantastic Four since the beginning,” Shakman says. “I was a kid reading these comics, so the chance to help bring them to life was too hard to pass up.”
Shakman confirms the film will build a stylized retro-future setting with practical sets, including Reed Richards’ lab, the Baxter Building, and even a custom Times Square backlot.
“We’re gonna build this retro future world. Build real sets, real locations,” he says.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige emphasizes that this is the first Fantastic Four film made entirely in-house at Marvel Studios.
“For the first time ever at Marvel Studios, we can make a Fantastic Four movie,” Feige says. “Just seeing the four of them together is gonna be worth the price of admission.”
